How do I get started with therapy?
How long will it take for a therapist to be assigned to me?
After you have provided your contact information and request for services, an administrative assistant will reach out to you and obtain additional information to match you with the best fit clinician (if you have a preference please indicate so). Your therapist will typically contact you within 5 business days.
How long is our initial/intake session?
Intake Sessions are typically 60 minutes. Intake Assessments may need to be completed in 2 sessions. Intakes consist of questions about your background, what brings you to therapy and a discussion of your therapeutic goals and needs.
How long are sessions regularly?
Typically, regular ongoing sessions are 45 minutes. In cases of emergency urgent appointments may be shorter in duration depending on need and are usually 15-30 minutes.
How often do I meet with my therapist?
After intake is concluded you and your therapist will develop a treatment plan to address your specific needs. This will include discussing how often you should meet. Clients often meet weekly, bimonthly or monthly depending on need. However, if an urgent issue arises before your next scheduled meeting you may be able to schedule an appointment sooner.
Will I have a copay due at my session?
After you speak with your clinician and a session is scheduled, you will be contacted and information regarding your insurance will be requested. Kamato billing company will verify your benefits and send you any payment due upon your first session.
Are there copays for virtual visits? Are there copays during the pandemic?
There may still be copays for your visit even though it is virtual. This is specific to each insurance and you will be billed appropriately by Kamato billing company. If you have a question about your copay you may ask your clinician.
Am I able to see someone in the office?
How do I know if my therapist is a good fit?
At the time of first contact and during intake your therapist should share a little about their professional background and you should feel free to ask some questions to determine if they are a good fit. Part of the therapeutic process is building a rapport with your clinician that starts within the first couple of visits. If you feel like you are not building that rapport you should discuss this with your clinician.
